The smart knife
These days the technology has to be more than useful, it has to be honest and fair. The consume of this day, wants to know everything. That’s what the new trend transparency is standing for. It will make everything less more anonymous and it will give us more knowledge than we ever had. 2014, the year where all secrets will come to an and. The year of power for the consume and weakness’ for the retail. The year of honesty.
The smart knife, what is it?
These days it’s getting more important to know what is in our food. You can’t trust the local markets anymore they putt a lot of unhealthy chemical ingredients in their products, while they don’t put it on the label. With the smart knife consumers can check the freshness and bacteria of food materials by their selves. The knife has a sensor and system on it’s tip, which will be able to sense the ingredients of the food materials. It has an button on the upper part of the hand grip, so when you’re cutting your ingredients, the related information will be shown to the user through the smart screen. The output information will be as follow:

Freshness: percentage showing total freshness and gauge bar. in addition you can check temperature and humidity, sugar content and pesticide and cross section.

Bacteria infection degree: bacteria infection degree percentage and gauge bar, information on major dangerous bacteria and photo.

Nutrient: nutrient percentage and gauge bar; major nutrients such as vitamin ABC, carbohydrate, protein, fat etc. are shown.

Negative ion: you can put negative ions out in the groceries and keeping the freshness (electroluxdesignlab,2014).
The smart knife is for nowadays only an concept development, it’s not touchable yet, but when it will be finished, it will be my must have for sure!
Why is it hip, happening and transparent?
I think the smart knife is hip and happening, because of it’s innovative technologic system. It’s a whole new concept which will give the consumers the right information of their ingredients. It’s definitely something which we need nowadays, because of all the lies and chemical products in the food section. With the smart knife we know which stores sells the most healthy and fresh food. This will give us the possibility to buy our food in the best stores, which will make the others have to fresh their products up too.
Why has it growth potential?
The smart knife has definitely got some growth potential. First off course because it is still in development, but when it has come to a real product, it will be something which will live up to our desires. We want to have more knowledge by the day, so this is one of the first gadgets which is able to give us the unknown knowledge, we never had. It is easy, reliable, and innovative. May in the future there will also be something for clothes or other products we’re never sure off if it is really as fair as the say so.
