Edible QR Codes
You say what?
Edible QR codes? You say what? You really read this right. The Moshi Moshi is the first Britain sushi bar which came with this something new. In conformity with the Marine Stewardschip Council (a sustainable seafood watch group) they added this great concept on their food. The QR codes on their food will show the costumers that their sushi is sustainable and fair. The QR codes are printed with squid ink on rice paper and nori, which are added on the sushi themselves. When you scan the code you will get connected to the website of the MSC. They are explaining were the fish was sourced.
Why is this cool and total transparency?
Because of the mobile technology and the QR codes, are we, costumers, more able to check everything. We can directly go to the site of the Moshi Moshi and see others´ costumers reviews. We are able to check if the food and the service is well and then we will make our decision. I think the fact that the cooperation with the MSC is really well, because of the healthy fish and great thought behind it. With the QR code, people know now were their fish is coming from and they’re sure that the Moshi Moshi will only serve the best sustainable and fair fish, because of there cooperation with the MSC.
Why does Edible QR Codes have growth potential?
I think that this was a great action and a really great sample for other restaurants and even also for the supermarkets. When we know what we eat, it will makes us more happy and more sure about our health. When we know that chickens from the KFC had a great life, it will taste a lot better then when we see a link to a disgusting chicken breeding with cubicles from 30 square centimetres. So when we use the QR codes on more products and In more restaurants, we are more conscious about what we eat, were it comes from, how the animals lived or how the farmers get paid and most of all, it will show us if we spend our money to right institutions. When you get is all together, with more QR codes, we can fight the abuse of animals, ppor farmers and other unjustifiable cases.
