Barbie gets realistisc

 

The beauty image is changing by the time. A little while ago there was posted a photo on Facebook from a plus sized Barbie doll. This image has conducted a lot of ado. The reactions were overwhelming and it would definitely not be the last discussion about this subject.

 

What is it?

We all know the famous perfect Barbie doll. Since we were a child, we couldn’t escape of it. But nowadays it’s getting more and more in the media. The perfect Barbie doll isn’t as perfect as she looks like. The sizes are way too far out of proportion for a real person. Her head will be too big for her body to care and in the size of her waist would hardly fit a half lever. Now there’s posted a photo on Facebook, of an oversized Barbie which looks more like an obesities Barbie. This brought out a lot of commotion in the media. Is it disgusting? Is it how the reality is? Or is it a bad example for young kids? Everyone has got their own opinion. I think, that this post is the best thing that could happen.

 

Why is it cool?

The fact that this commotion is so big, that it spreads all over the world, is a great thing if you ask me. It will open the eyes of the society and let us see that we all are perfect in our own way. If Barbie is the perfect person, while her head hardly falls off her trunk, than we are all perfect with our own aliments. Of course it’s not healthy if we really look like her, or if we really have obesities, but this discussion may will bring us to a normal sized Barbie.

 

Why has it growth potential?

In this generation we all want to be respected in the way we are. The inner beauty is one of the most important things we hold on. We are not changing for the ideal image anymore. The ideal image is changing to us. Individualism is one of the biggest trends from this time. We don’t want to be all the same, so one perfect idol for this society isn’t an option anymore. If the Barbie doll has more characters, more different sizes and more colors, than we can raise our kids in the world we live in. This world doesn’t only exist out of Barbie characters, this world is an multicultural society, with a billion different  individualities.
